Well written and good message! There is still such a stigma surrounding mental illness even though 20% of Canadians suffer from at least one mental disorder. My brother has schizophrenia and several members of my family have dealt with depression and anxiety. You're right! It is so annoying when people say - oh she'll snap out of it or it's just a phase... I do have high hopes for mental illness 50 years from now as I think there is a lot going on both on a regional and national level to raise awareness and increase resources. I'm told too that there is a plan in place to organize all Halifax's mental health resources into one entry point thingy doer which hopefully will make navigating the system easier. I hope you found something for your relative and take care as you deal with the loss of your pup. Keep up the great writing!

Love this! I remember staying at a friend's cottage, and an elderly family member being horrified by the fact that she could recognize my gift-wrapped pad as what it was. My reaction was a confused "what else am I supposed to do with it?" and her answer was "flush it". !!!

Another bit of TV-speak that drives me crazy comes from the weather forecasters. Why must they say "the overnight" or even "the overnight hours" instead of just "overnight"? The next time I hear about Cindy Day talking about "rain showers in the overnight," I'm going to lose it.

Actually, we are using grocery bags on a daily basis for our garbage. They just came handy and now we need a replacement.

The bad thing is... these new grocery bags for 5 cents each is a much heavier quality than the free bags in the past.

So you are right... all landfill-bags will be replaced by especially-made-for-garbage-bags.
